Help paying for WEGOVY
Which program you can use is decided by the insurance you have, not by what you can afford. Commercial insurance opens the $25 savings offer, Medicare opens a $50 program, and having neither opens a different door again.

Start from the coverage you have
| What you have | The published route | What rules you out |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial insurance | Savings offer, as little as $25 a month | A government plan, and a copay more than $100 above $25 |
| No insurance | Self-pay: $199 a month for two fills, then $349 | Nothing, but the price is the price |
| Medicare Part D | Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, $50 a month | Already getting a GLP-1 through your plan, and three other conditions |
| Medicare or no insurance, low income | The maker’s Patient Assistance Program, medicine at no cost | Private or commercial insurance, Medicaid, or Extra Help |
Wegovy.com’s savings page (read 11 September 2026), the CMS Medicare GLP-1 Bridge fact sheet (June 2026) and NovoCare’s Patient Assistance Program page (read 12 September 2026). All three are listed under Sources.
With commercial insurance
The offer that gets advertised as $25 is the manufacturer’s, and the sentence that governs it is a footnote:
Pay as little as $25, subject to a maximum savings of $100/month. Eligibility and restrictions apply.
It takes up to $100 off what your plan leaves you, so it reaches the headline only if your share was already close. That makes your own copay the number worth finding out first, and the coverage page is about how to get it out of your plan.
Paying for it yourself
The manufacturer publishes a self-pay price that does not need any insurance at all: $199 a month for a new patient’s first two fills at 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg, then $349 a month, with the 7.2 mg pen at $399. A month is one box of four pens. The whole structure, including the date the page puts on its own pricing, is on the WEGOVY price page, and the tablets have their own schedule on the pill page.2
A discount card does not beat this. Checked on 12 September 2026, the prices a discount service listed for WEGOVY were the manufacturer’s own numbers, dose for dose: GoodRx and WEGOVY has the comparison.
On Medicare
Medicare GLP-1 Bridge opened on 1 July 2026 and charges $50 a month for certain GLP-1 weight loss medicines, whatever your income. Four things have to be true: you have Part D drug coverage, you are not already able to get a GLP-1 through your drug plan, you do not have type 2 diabetes, moderate-to-severe sleep apnea or fatty liver disease, and you meet the age and BMI conditions. WEGOVY is on its covered list in both forms.1
The requirements in full, and what the $50 does not do, are on the WEGOVY coverage page. Note that the savings offer above is not an alternative for you: its own footnote excludes government beneficiaries. If you use a prescribing service, confirm whether its care fee is additional to the medication arrangement. The LifeMD review separates these charges.
The maker's Patient Assistance Program
This is the one people mean by patient assistance, and it is a different kind of program: not a discount but free medicine for people who qualify. Novo Nordisk describes it in one line:
The Patient Assistance Program provides medicine at no cost to those who qualify.
Its published rules for 2026 are specific, and the second one surprises people: you must be a US citizen or legal resident, you must have a household income that qualifies against the federal poverty guidelines, and you must have Medicare or no insurance. The page states that if you have private or commercial insurance you are not eligible. You also cannot be enrolled in or qualify for another federal or state program such as Medicaid or the Medicare Low-Income Subsidy.3
On income it prints two thresholds for people without insurance: household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level for OZEMPIC, and at or below 400% for its other medications. Approved enrollment runs 12 months for uninsured patients, and through the end of the calendar year for patients on Medicare.3
Questions
How do I get WEGOVY for $25 a month?
Through the manufacturer’s savings offer, which needs commercial insurance and is capped at $100 of savings a month. If your plan leaves you a $300 share, the same offer leaves you $200. Government plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, are excluded by its own footnote.
Is there a patient assistance program for WEGOVY?
Novo Nordisk runs a Patient Assistance Program that provides medicine at no cost to people who qualify, and its 2026 rules require Medicare or no insurance, a qualifying household income, and no enrollment in Medicaid or Extra Help. The program page read on 12 September 2026 names diabetes medicines and does not mention WEGOVY in its visible text, so whether this drug is on its covered list is a question for that list rather than for this page.
I have commercial insurance but my plan will not cover it. What now?
The savings offer only reduces what a plan leaves you, so it does nothing when a plan pays nothing. The two routes that remain are the appeal, which has published deadlines, and the self-pay price of $199 for two months and $349 after that.
