How much is the WEGOVY pill?
WEGOVY tablets are oral semaglutide, and Novo Nordisk publishes self-pay prices by dose: $149 a month at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg, and $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg, where a month is one bottle of 30 tablets. With commercial insurance its savings offer can take that to as little as $25.5

What the pill is
WEGOVY tablets are semaglutide taken by mouth rather than injected, and the label sets them out on their own schedule. They come in four strengths, 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg and 25 mg, and the maintenance dose is 25 mg once a day. The instruction that surprises people is the timing:1
Take one WEGOVY tablet orally once daily on an empty stomach in the morning with water (up to 4 ounces).
After that you wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else or taking other tablets. The dose climbs every 30 days rather than every four weeks, so the pill’s ladder is not the injection’s. The semaglutide dosage chart sets both out side by side.1
The published price, dose by dose
Novo Nordisk prints self-pay prices on its own page, and they rise as the dose does. This is the footnote under its pricing panel, word for word:
Self-pay pricing varies by dose. Patients pay $149 for each month of 1.5 mg, $199 per month for 4 mg and $299 per month for 9 mg and 25 mg. One month defined as 1 bottle of 30 tablets.
| Days | Daily dose | Self-pay |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 30 | 1.5 mg | $149 |
| 31 to 60 | 4 mg | $199 |
| 61 to 90 | 9 mg | $299 |
| 91 onward | 25 mg | $299 |
Prices from Wegovy.com, read September 2026; the page prints no revision date. Days from the WEGOVY prescribing information, Table 2 (label revised 6/2026). One month is one bottle of 30 tablets.
Read down the last column before you budget from the first month. The starting dose is the cheapest month you will have, and on the label’s schedule the price doubles by day 61 and stays there.
With insurance, and on Medicare
The same page carries two other routes. For people with commercial drug coverage there is a savings offer:
Pay as little as $25, subject to a maximum savings of $100/month.
“As little as” is doing work in that sentence: the offer caps what it takes off, so what you actually pay depends on what your plan leaves you with. If your plan does not cover WEGOVY at all, the savings offer is not the route. Whether insurance covers WEGOVY goes through what that turns on.
On Medicare there is a flat number. The GLP-1 Bridge program has covered WEGOVY, in both forms, at $50 a month since 1 July 2026 for eligible Part D enrollees, whatever the dose. The eligibility rules are four separate tests, set out on the coverage page.3,4
The tablet a telehealth seller quotes is not this tablet
Search the same question and you will find monthly figures well under $149 attached to the words “oral semaglutide.” Those are sellers’ own products, and almost none of them says it is dispensing an approved one. Across the 92 sellers priced on this site, 2 state they dispense a branded drug, 36 state compounded, and 54 say neither.
The form is the other half of it. Of 986 published semaglutide figures across 281 sellers, 233 carry a word naming the form in the text printed around the price. Of the 120 sellers that named one at all, 21 named an oral form and nothing else. Whether a price says shot or tablet has every word they used. The Hims & Hers review covers a branded pill pathway with separate membership, while the Noom review distinguishes its program types and pricing-verification limits.
Questions
Is the pill cheaper than the WEGOVY pen?
At the doses people stay on, yes, on the maker’s own self-pay prices: $299 a month for 9 mg or 25 mg tablets against $349 a month for the pen at 0.25 through 2.4 mg, and $399 for WEGOVY HD at 7.2 mg. A month of tablets is one bottle of 30; a month of pens is a box of four.
Why does the price go up with the dose?
Because the maker prices it that way. Self-pay is $149 at 1.5 mg, $199 at 4 mg and $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg, so the month you settle on the maintenance dose is the month the bill settles too. Telehealth sellers often price the other way: 41 of the 92 here say in writing that their figure does not change with the dose.
Are these prices current?
They were read from Novo Nordisk’s own page in September 2026, and that page prints no revision date. It also says the company can modify or cancel the program at any time, so check the figure before you rely on it.
Is the WEGOVY pill the same as oral semaglutide from a telehealth site?
No. WEGOVY tablets are an approved product with a label, four strengths and a published schedule. A compounded oral semaglutide is a different preparation with none of those things, and the price difference is not a discount on the same medicine.
